Ivo n I don't know what this change entails - but it sounded like a free upgrade so we did it.
This pic sums up our times recently!
It's been a hellacious couple weeks. Not hellacious in the good, bodacious way, but rather, in the bad, formidably difficult way.
It feels like we're pulling up and out, though. Yay!
Brief timeline of late summer/autumn 2006:
- In late July, my sister was hospitalized. Almost died - 10 units of blood, coma. Prognosis awful. Cirrhosis. Liver-damage the worst dr has seen in someone her age. Needs transplant. Won't stop drinking.
- In the 2nd week of August, my mother's brother died suddenly.
(still hadn't told them about Baby 2/22)
- Sister incommunicado around her birthday. No one knew where she was. Turns out she's in the hospital. Cardiac wing, collapsed lung, pneumonia, broken hand-requiring surgery, hallucinations, half-blinded by insecticide sprayed into her eyes...after 10 days, she left hospital against dr's wishes.
- Past 3 hospitalizations have been induced by beatings she's received at hands of a 60-year-old crackhead who lives in her building. She won't stay away from him. She keeps having to move (either evicted or endangered).
So anyway, my sister's judgment/health problems are not new - but ever-spiralling downward. I don't believe there is such thing as redemption once you've hit bottom. Cuz she's been digging underground for the last 10 years...
Strangely, the only people who think she's not insane and in need of being committed are the psychiatrists she's referred to for signatures to that effect!!! It's incredible! Also the maddening-but-so-easily-solved problem of how/who gives her money to buy alcohol...
Ivo's just returning to his regular sweet and happy self after 2 weeks of moody-madness! So, I've been angry and exhausted lately.
Pics and videos coming soon.
