Poor little Burl. He's trying his best to be cheerful. Not easy. I took him to the doctor today cuz it's been ten days of on-again-off-again fever (not too high), mucus-y everything and lots of coughing. Plus he has some red splotches on his skin that don't seem to be mosquitos.
The doctor said Burl's lungs sound fine and that his cough is caused by post-nasal drip. I asked about his skin and just how he generally seems sick; reddish puffy eyes and lethargic. Dr said Burl has sinusitis and the skin and eye symptoms are allergy-based.
He gave us medicine that I'm not giving Burl. But now little Burl has mucus practically flowing out of his eyes and HIVES. He doesn't seem any more upset than he was earlier in the day.
I read at Dr. Sears' website that there are 4 complications of the common cold; ear infections, sinus infections, bronchitis and pneumonia. He says that eye drainage is a sign of a sinus infection which he says can happen 10 days into a cold.
Maybe we'll go to another dr tomorrow. As I've been writing this, Ivo's been coughing up a storm and the only way I can get him to drink water is by letting him watch cartoons.
I'll just be sitting here with my sick kids waiting for my Mother of the Year Award!!!!! Crap.
