I am in the process of changing doctors. Mostly cuz I want to be in a bigger facility for this birth since it's Chinese New Year. When Ivo was born (on xmas eve-o) the anesthesiolist never showed up and my doctor was only there for 10 minutes. I didn't care for the delivery room with its stirrups-only option or the nurse hitting my legs yelling "NO!" every time I tried to stretch... So, I figure, if that's how the clinic is staffed from 4am-7am on a Friday morning when xmas-eve-o isn't even a recognized holiday, what kind of DIY situation can one expect when everyone's drunk for 5 days during New Year?
That said, I liked my doctor just fine - not really leaving him - just his clinic and beautiful VIP rooms for after delivery. He did assure me that no matter what time of day, the anesthesiologist would be there... so I know he'll make the same promise about New Year, but this time I won't believe it! And, I think partly, what kept me going was the belief that soon the doctor/medicine would arrive. Oh yes, and it was so ugly, I took off my glasses so I could only see Ryan.
Yea, those are the circumstances that overcame my laziness and familiarity, moving me to a much further hospital and Dr Fu. At the exam (and glucose tolerance test), I found out that Dr. Lee hasn't written the results of any tests I've taken in my mama book. They're on his computer - so I have to go in and ask him to fill in my book which is a potentially awkward situation where much face could be lost. But whatever, while simultaneously informing him that I'm leaving his care I have the opportunity to ask him to redress his professional breach of protocol. Dr.s like that. Dr. Fu was clear that Dr. Lee is/was required to record this stuff.
But the part that matters is that Baby 2 is "perfect" - all parts and pieces accounted for, working properly and no hairlip. He weighs 1200g, moves a lot when I'm not and is positioned head-down. We could see him moving his eyes and mouth! The ultrasound printout is impossible to decipher though - so I'm not posting it.
Today I like the name Emmett. We are still pretty set on Burl though. We already call him that. We are getting soooooo excited to meet him!!!!!
